The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Northpointe Regional Campus

IUP at Northpointe

The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Northpointe Regional Campus offers unique two-year programs, which combine technical training along with courses in liberal arts, science, computers, electronics, statistical quality control, and workplace safety. The hands-on approach of these programs is emphasized by the fact that all the technical and science courses have 3-hour labs. Students will have the opportunity to use some of the most modern equipment available today in laser and electro-optics technology.

Since Electro-Optics is a new industry to Pennsylvania and training for this industry is limited, IUP has introduced two associate degrees in Electro-Optics. These degrees, the Associate in Applied Sciences (A.A.S.) and the Associate in Science (A.S.), are offered only at the Northpointe Regional Campus. The A.A.S. degree is designed to produce trained and skilled workers who will be competent to move into senior technician slots in the Electro-Optics industry. The A.S. degree gives the student the choice of either going directly to work as a senior technician or matriculating to IUP’s main campus to earn a B.S. degree in the Electro-Optics Track in Applied Physics.
